Thanks to the building's appearance, facilities, location, and the excellent cooperation we experienced last season, we didn't need to look any further this year. SugarCity was the perfect location for our program TALPA.
Producer Talpa has once again chosen the industrial location SugarCity for the eighth season of The Voice of Holland! The episodes of The Battles and The Knockouts were filmed over six days of recording. In The Battles of The Voice of Holland, the contestants compete for a place in the live shows. Due to the many talented contestants, an extra round was needed again this year: The Knockouts. A completely new setting was created for this part of the program this year. In the junior version of the program, The Voice Kids, the children also get the chance to prove themselves in the ring.
Filming took place in September and October 2016. In just over three weeks, the entire location was completely converted into a TV studio and then emptied again. To complete the set, an extra boiler was built on the ground floor, from which camera images were also taken. In between, the location was converted several times to enable the various elements to be filmed during the recording days. Each recording day, an audience of around 300 people was welcomed, who enthusiastically cheered on the candidates.
In preparation for the return of The Voice of Holland, several wishes were realized, including the expansion of internet capabilities and the insulation of the production office. The platform of the stairs was also enlarged. Where the stairs converge, this created space for a new setting for 'The Knockouts'.
The industrial look of SugarCity fits perfectly with the decor of The Battles. The boxing ring is given an extra dimension by the atrium and the use of the first floor. The location enhances the setting of the rounds of The Voice of Holland.
The recordings from SugarCity were broadcast between December 2, 2016, and January 6, 2017, on RTL4.
The episodes of The Voice Kids can be seen from March 31 at 8:30 p.m. on RTL4.
